There are many reasons why people will have a cork board framed for their various locations at homes, schools, offices and dormitories. These framed boards are such a practical item to have around as they can be used easily for notices and pictures being added and taken off at will.

Visual reminders are always effective in getting the message across and more so where a large number of people need to be advised of information. People may not receive your message through technical sources and in such cases, these visual reminders are best to get any announcement publicized.

These boards are especially common in a dorm room as they help college students remain up to date and organized with their lectures and tutorials.Students also love pinning their photos on it, and remind themselves of home. Moreover, they are easy to clean and maintain and are naturally anti-bacterial to use amongst students.

2. Public places like libraries and hospitals and schools also use these boards as announcement boards. It is always better to buy and use framed cork boards that have a glass fronted frame to lock notices away from pranksters who love changing dates and drawing pictures on the notices.

3. In the work place framed cork boards are good because they are a stable item and can be put in a place where all staff can see the notices.

4. A framed and plastic door cork board is ideal for situations such as a club room or outside a club building where members can view the notice as an when they are in the area.

These framed cork boards can be bought readymade, or if you are interested, you can make them yourself. If you prefer to frame your own cork board, it's better to use aluminum, chrome or old wooden frames that are easily available at any flea market or second hand store. Just make sure that the frame you bring home isn't infested with any woodworm or pest, lest it creates havoc with your other furniture.

If you are going to decorating your own wooden frame do make sure you clean the frame and remove any glass, pins or nails in it before using it. Then, with your imagination, and some crafting tools, you will be able to create quite an imaginative and interesting frame for your board.

Kids love doing this if the cork board is going to be in their room.

Whether you make your own cork board or you buy one it is a good idea to make sure that the cork is at least half an inch thick. The reason for this is that when taking pins in and out of the cork a thinner cork will deteriorate very quickly and need replacing much earlier because it will pull apart with use, whereas a thicker board will hold together better.

It is best to use hooks for hanging the boards in a bedroom as long as the board are safe and firmly held, but in a public place it is better that the board is screwed into the wall so that there can be no accidents from it falling on someone.

Looking at the types and uses of a cork board framed, it is not surprising that they are still being used as much as they are today, even given the technology that is used to communicate with everyone.
